What Does Christmas Mean to you?


Christmas lights, trees. the Belen or Nativity Scene, snowmen, candy canes, Santa Claus, Christmas lanters and Christmas gifts (usually under the Christmas Tree) are the things you see almost everywhere in time of Christmas. Groups of people, both kids and adults go from house to house singing Christmas carols, with kids often sing with incorrect lyrics, hoping to get a few coins from the homeowners.

Companies and families hold Christmas parties here and there, with lots of foods (and calories and cholesterol) and people exchanges gifts. Ninongs and Ninangs (godparents) give gifts to their inaanak (god children).

From the 16th of December, to the 25th, Catholic Christians flock the Churches at dawn to attend the traditional Novena Mass in preparation for the coming Christmas eve.

Question is What does Christmas mean to people these days? To kids, it’s that time of the year when they received lots of gifts, whether in kind or in cash. Some thinks that Santa Claus gave them some of the gifts they received.

But with so many symbols of Christmas, which one really represents the true meaning of Christmas? Which one really defines Christmas to you?
